Bracknell Forest Runners Cross Country Sunday January 5th 2020 11am

Bracknell Forest Runners are delighted to host the final TVXC event of the 2019/20 season at our regular venue

Lightwater Country Park
The Avenue
GU18 5RG

11am Start

Parking is available but limited at the Country Park so please car share where possible as the centre is open to the public and we do not have exclusive use of the car park. Please note that we DO NOT have use of the leisure centre car park ONLY the Country Park.

Additional parking is available in Bagshot around Albert Road and Whitmoor road which is a short walk over the footbridge to the start

We have paid for use of the toilets by the all weather pitches at the Leisure Centre again this year – they can be accessed by the OUTSIDE entrance only and the café at the Country Park will be open from 10am if any needs a hot drink before the race.

Refreshments will as normal be located next to the finish line to allow you to enjoy a cup of tea and something from our fabulous spread whilst you cheer in the rest of your team

Do not forget to bring your cups.

The course is two laps of paths and trails around the country park and is not suitable for spikes

We look forward to welcoming you all in January ...have a great Christmas !!

Reading Roadrunners - 22/12/19

The Reading Roadrunners are looking forward to welcoming you to Ashenbury Park, Tippings Lane, Woodley. As ever the race starts at 11am.

Car parking is limited and is only available at Waingels College, Waingels Road RG5 4RF. Please make every effort to car share. There is a short walk (5 min) to the race HQ, toilets and the start.

Please do not attempt to reach the venue via the Ford at Charvil - this is not a shortcut even if Sat Nav says so.

The two lap course is c.8k mainly on open grassy ground plus a trail through the woods. No huge hills, rivers or bogs but it will be strength sapping in wet conditions. Parts of the course can get very wet in winter so a change of socks and shoes is highly advisable.

The course has been changed from previous years. It is now two laps rather than nearly three and the start is an uphill and downhill U shaped loop. There are also opportunities for runners to see and support their friends and teammates as they pass each other in the various short two way sections.

The course is suitable for spikes.

We will be using finishing tokens for this race, please return these to your club rep.

Please remember to bring your own mug and plate/tub, as these will not be supplied.

Tadley XC - Cancellation

It is with considerable regret that I have to advise that we have to cancel this seasons Tadley TVXC fixture on 19th January.

We have received communication from an individual who claims to administer the tract of land we run on stating that we cannot hold an event there due to it upsetting the balance between preserving rights of access and the need to protect fauna and flora. This view was further communicated to us by the gamekeeper at our Tadley Xmas XC event held last Sunday who said that the communication we received was genuine. We had hoped to secure the future of the Tadley XC fixture by hosting it on a course that exclusively used public rights of way. Our attempts to engage with the landowner (whom we believe is based in the Midlands) have failed to get any response. The communication received had many inaccurate statements about our event which is very frustrating.

This is really disappointing, as we enjoy hosting you all and always appreciate your feedback on our course, which we know was always popular. At the current time Tadley Runners do not wish to withdraw from being a host club and we will attempt to investigate an alternative venue for next season.

Sandhurst Joggers event: 24th November 2019

23rd November 2019 (1:15 pm):

COURSE: Early today I walked the course for tomorrow's event to check that all's well. The course is in good shape, but be warned - it is very slippery in places, with occasional puddles, some of them deep and muddy. There are also many trip-hazards (rough terrain and/or exposed knobbly tree-roots), often combined with slippery surfaces. There is also one steep (but quite short) hill-climb. This, then, is REAL cross-country!

The course comprises two laps of about three miles, so you get to do it all TWICE.

The start and finish, however, are in a beautifully-groomed school sports-field.

Slower runners WILL BE OVERTAKEN by the fastest; probably as early as ⅔ way through lap 1 (shortly after the top of the steep climb). Please listen out for them, and try to give them as much room as possible to pass.
As you approach the end of the first lap you will be directed to keep left, into Lap 2; at the end of the second you keep right, to the finish. There is a marshal to point this out, and it is usually obvious to her/him which lap you are on, but please be aware of this, and take the correct route.

PARKING at the college is limited, and some of it is a moderate walk from the start/finish. Please PLEASE car share wherever possible, and allow plenty of time.

CLUB TENTS, FLAGS etc: Please set up your assembly, etc area to the LEFT (as you enter the field) of the main sports field and the race finish-funnel. We must keep clear of the marked football pitches as they will be in use very soon after our event ends.

Thanks for your attention, and have a great run.

Handy Cross TVXC Event - Sunday 1st December

Handy Cross Runners is pleased to welcome your club members and supporters to our cross-country race in Bradenham Woods by kind permission of the National Trust.

From junction 4 on the M40 take the A4010 signposted towards Aylesbury. You will cross 4 roundabouts until you come to a T junction on the A40. Turn left along the A40 still following signs to Aylesbury. At the next roundabout take the second exit signposted Aylesbury on the A4010. After about 1 mile you will go under a railway bridge and after another mile you will go past the Red Lion pub (HP14 4HF) on the corner of Bradenham Woods Lane. Continue along the A4010 for another half mile until you see a track on the right, which will be signposted. Follow this track up and marshals will direct you to park in the field.

Car parking is in the field by kind permission of the local farmer. There will be a nominal charge of £1 which is given to the farmer.

Start / Finish

On arrival, please assemble near the finish area, which is next to the car park. Toilets will be provided. Any kit can be left at the finish area at your own risk. The start is about 400m further up the access road and is about a 10-minute uphill walk, so please ensure you leave enough time to get to the start.

Race Administration

We will be using discs again this year. Please return these to your rep. The course is suitable for spikes but there are sections where the paths are quite hard and stony.

Sandhurst Cross Country 24/11/19

Sandhurst Joggers XC - 24/11/19

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Lord Wandsworth College on Sunday 25th November.

The postcode for the event is: RG29 1TB. This postcode takes you to a small entrance beside a primary school. Make sure you continue to the main entrance of the College further along the main road leading through the village of Long Sutton. The Four Horseshoes Pub is right next to the main (correct) College entrance, their postcode is RG29 1TA.

Parking: When you get to the event please follow marshals carefully to ensure that you park in the correct place. Parking is extremely limited, so please CAR SHARE as much as possible. If we run out of parking space within the College, there is nowhere to park off-site due to the nature of the country roads.

Team captains who arrive with their club’s gazebo are permitted to park in car park 1. Please let our marshals know you have the club gazebo in your car and they will direct you to the correct car park. Car Park 1 has limited space, so only 1 car per club will be permitted to park here. Space is not guaranteed, arriving early gives the best chance of securing a spot in this parking area.

Toilets: There are no changing rooms, and space within the WCs is limited; please arrive ready to run if possible.
Lord Wandsworth College is a school site; urinating within school grounds (other than the designated toilets of course), is not permitted. This is a serious safeguarding issue that must be adhered to.

Course: The course is a challenging 6 mile course. It is two laps of mainly woodland trails. The trails can get very muddy with some deep puddles. It is NOT suitable for spikes, but trail shoes would be ideal. It is rutted and rocky in places so please take care when running and overtaking other runners.

Food: We will not be providing any cups or plates so please bring your own cups. There will be plenty of tea and food to go round.

Good luck to all runners.

Jon (Sandhurst XC Captain)
